The Early Bird gets the worm

Finally, a small stretch of nice summer weather is upon us after seemingly never-ending periods of rain. Mother nature is already starting to remind us that the seasons are changing. The nights are cooler, and I’ve already seen some leaves changing color. So, before you know it, Autumn will be here, which is quickly followed by winter.
Is it too early to start to prepare for winter? Absolutely not! Now is the time to have your heating system serviced and inspected. Contractors are very busy and likely cannot get to you for a month or more. Don’t wait until the temperatures drop, an emergency visit will cost you a lot more!
It’s also time to order and stack firewood if that is one of your heat sources. As you know, it’s been a very wet summer. Finding dry firewood may become more difficult the longer you wait. We highly recommend Colton Enterprises for their kiln-dried firewood. It may cost a little more, but it’s very dry, bug free, and can be stacked/stored indoors!
While we won’t likely see any of the white flakes for a few months, now is the time to look at those snow tires you took off last spring to make sure they are safe and suitable for another winter season. If the tread has less than 5/32” remaining, it’s time to replace them. Don’t get caught in a bind by waiting until November to check your snow tires!
Do you use a snowblower? If so, now is a great time to get it serviced/tuned up before your favorite small engine repair person is booked too far out to get to you before you will need to put that machine to use!
It’s never too early to prepare for winter.
